The gap will widen exponentially, growing as a result of the convergence of key disparate technologies and phenomenon.

• Phenomenon: Social Networking, Web 2.0 +, leading to expectations of Connectivity, Interaction and access to Intelligence anywhere, anytime – Its what people want
• Technologies: Enabled via improvements in devices, networks, cloud computing, etc.
• As an extension of Metcalf’s Law, the combined benefit of convergence has lead to more rapid adoption of emerging technologies

The challenge with government is that the policies and infrastructure growth will be linear and may not leverage the full benefits of convergence as a result.
