Position: Technical Consultant

Overview:

Consultant with telecommunications technology, system and network experience gained through working in a wireline and broadband operator environment. Some project management and consulting experience will be an asset. Must have an appreciation of the various technology and business functions in an operator’s organization including product development, technology planning, through to network engineering and operations.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist in translating technology requirements from the design activity into work-plans
  • To develop a systems roadmap and plan including BSS and OSS solutions.
  • Link infrastructure development plans (Backbone & Edge networks) with the service evolution plans to ensure alignment
  • Ensure technology plans and initiatives are agreed with other business units.
  • Support client interaction/presentations

Skills Required:

  • Architecture development/experience on wireline related products/services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PCs, Servers, TCP/IP, Dial-up, DSL, WAN/MAN/LAN/PAN, Fixed line and WLL networks.
  • Attention to detail and follow through on commitments.
  • Technically fluent and grounded through experience in IP networks.
  • Ability to articulate technology and the business advantages of solutions to target audiences, including technology architects but specifically to business decision makers and influencers

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate/Postgraduate degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years professional experience.
  • Prefer individual with consultant background in a telecom operator environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a consulting environment with little supervision, with customers and in a team environment.
  • Must be willing to travel internationally for extended time periods
